While the televised image is becoming more and more a tool of power, a world-wide counter-movement against the notion of being ruled by television is coming to life. This internetsite has been created to participate in that impulse and to help make it flourish.
To contribute to the growth of this movement, I decided to write a book called "Disconnect to Reconnect." In a totally innovative way, it offers an advanced analysis of television by describing television above and beyond its contents. In the book, I show that television is a machine that monopolizes a human being's attention whatever the program that the viewer is watching.
Whereas the majority of audiovisual analysts fight over questions of content (the merits or shortcomings of specific programs), I use my experience as an ex-producer of television documentaries to offer a professional analysis and that goes beyond the usual debate. Having gotten rid of my television over 10 years ago, I write about television's hypnotic and addictive effect in a straightforward style that is accessible to everyone.
